WHERE TO STAY
SAYULITA
For ease of transport, we recommend you find accommodation in Sayulita. Spend time on the beach in this "little village" we've fallen in love with. Sayulita is charming and just the right size, with just a couple of cobblestone streets running through town. You're never far from the beach in Sayulita, so don't feel the need to spend extra to stay right on the beach.
Pro Tip: If noise disrupts you at night, avoid booking beachfront accommodations or surrounding the city center plaza. The beach clubs and bars play music that tends to go on all night... and all morning. It only takes 10 minutes to walk from one side of Sayulita to the other, so we suggest picking your accommodations based on your price and amenities vs. being closest to the action. It's a strenuous 1-mile walk from the plaza to the Teitiare Estate, so consider renting a Golf Cart for your stay or taking a shuttle on the Wedding Day.
If you want to stay close to the venue or plan on hanging out with the wedding party in the days leading up to and after the wedding, consider staying near Playa Carracitos. We suggest these accommodations near the Teitiare Estate:
Our other favorite spots in Sayulita are:
PUERTO VALLARTA & NUEVO VALLARTA
This is the city you will be flying into. Be careful not to confuse Nuevo Vallarta with Puerto Vallarta. PVR airport sits at the edge of Puerto Vallarta, close to the Hotel Zone that Nueva Vallarta is famous for. This area is considered safe; however, it can be pricey to stay at a resort. Now if you go south from PVR airport you will enter Puerto Vallarta. It is a city by all rights, but not a huge one. It's full of art, history, and lovely sunsets on the Malecon. Alongside its Costco, Walmart, Mega, and boat dock for tourists, all can be found in Puerto Vallarta. Prices for accommodations and food will be cheaper in this area. The only downside to staying in PV is longer travel times to the event, with additional transportation expenses. Puerto Vallarta is fairly safe but we recommend using good judgment past 10 PM.
BUCERIAS & PUNTA DE MITA
Moving from the most modern/westernized/resort-heavy Nuevo Vallarta to a smaller city named Bucerias. It is one of the more affordable locations on this list. We like Bucerias, and list it so you have lots of options. There is good food and fine transportation services in this area. Moving on to Punta De Mita, this stretch of road is considered the coastal road between Bucerias and Sayulita. There are many beachfront restaurants and upscale resorts in this area if you're into that kind of thing. While we do think affordable accommodations are available on Airbnb, this area is one of the more expensive places to stay on the list. If you're in a resort, taxi services should not be an issue. If staying in an Airbnb, we recommend Uber or calling a Bucerias taxi service to bring you to the event. Remember that adding +52 Country Code to the number will help the call go through in Mexico, and many local services use WhatsApp for communication.
SAN PANCHO
San Pancho is a ten-minute drive north of Sayulita. Golf carts cannot drive on this road, but bus service runs until 11 PM. Taxis are available most hours of the night, you can find them in the main Plaza Square. Be aware that taxis tend to upcharge because they know they are the only late-night transport service available unless you get lucky with an Uber. San Pancho is more or less similar pricing to Sayulita; however, it has been described as more relaxed, with better sunsets, and more laid back like what Sayulita was ten years ago.
